As exclusive caterer and event coordinator for The Landing at Lake Norman, Event Professional Chef Alexander Cruz of Lake Norman Catering brings his 15 years of experience to every celebration. While there is much to offer at this private women and veteran owned event destination – including Chef Alexander’s culinary talents, bar service, event coordination, rentals, tables, chairs, china and event staffing – the lake is still the star of the setting! While showing off the venue’s amenities to an engaged couple from out of state, Chef Alexander shares how they paused the tour – only to point out they were really here for the water views! (And yes, there’s a dock on the property for wedding guests arriving by boat!)
Now open as an outdoor wedding and event venue for up to 100 guests, The Landing can also accommodate up to 250 guests within a 40×100-foot tent. Phase two is currently in progress which will add indoor wedding and event space for 100, with a full separate bar area, a covered porte cochere entryway to the inside area or outside tent and a 40×120-foot lawn of Celebration Bermuda Golf Course quality grass – cut to high-end golf course standards – with railings around the entire area for an elevated look and feel.
When fully complete, engaged couples will have the luxury of a waterfront, year-round venue, with both inside and outside options adaptable for any weather conditions.
The newer inside space is expected to be ready by the end of June, with the remaining outside updates scheduled to be completed by August of this year.
An already popular feature, the 700-square-foot ground floor bridal suite provides incredible lake views and one-way privacy windows for the bride and her attendants, along with toiletries, sewing kits, hairdryers and a comfortable space for hair and makeup before the ceremony. The groom’s suite will also offer toiletries, coffee bar, food and alcohol – along with TVs.
“In all these years catering at so many venues, I have seen it all,” Chef Alexander shares. “The Landing gives us an opportunity to cater at a brand new venue, using our trusted experience. This venture is all about the chef-inspired experience – wrapped around the waterfront setting. We all know wedding guests remember the food, the venue and how smoothly the event flowed.”
Other “all-inclusive” benefits include a two-minute shuttle ride to additional parking, transportation to local hotels and to SoLuna Baja Cafe – an after-hours venue which can accommodate up to 170 guests until 2:00 a.m., with street tacos, flatbread pizzas, smash burgers and a full bar.
Current packages available at The Landing include Shoreline Serenity (tent, tables, chairs, basic florals, venue coordinator and day-of coordinator who manages the flow of the day) and Liquid Horizon – which includes the addition of beer and wine. Items that are not included are a professional wedding planner (essential if your wedding is more complex), elevated floral décor, photographer, videographer, ceremony officiant and wedding cake.
