Creative entrepreneur Susan Clayton has always embraced the idea of home as a sanctuary. With that sentiment in mind, she’s established a stylish, fun shopping destination in Cornelius with a name that says it all – Home2Court!
“I believe your home should be your happy place where you can entertain family and friends,” she shares. “I love simple entertaining pleasures, and I get so much joy from seeing customers purchase pieces for their own home. When they walk out of the store with beautiful pieces, it truly makes me happy!”
Originally from Charlotte, Susan moved to the Lake Norman area in 2017. When she began serious consideration of opening her own business, she was torn between a focus on home décor and pickle ball – as she’s a serious lover of both. The happy result is a spot that offers retail therapy for all the right reasons – it’s perfect for lovers of both the indoors and the outdoors – where you can decorate a space that reflects all aspects of your personality.
Susan opened Home2Court last April with a festive party for friends and family and, of course, her adorable companion and shop dog, Sunny, a two-year-old goldendoodle. “I had tremendous support and help to pull the store together. After thinking about opening my own business for a couple of years, I really got things rolling last January.”
“I love to entertain and decorate, and even though I have downsized, I still love new things and surrounding myself with elements that make my home inviting to family and friends,” Susan adds.
