“We established the business in 2019, however, Tom and I have been building custom homes together since 2012, and he has been in the commercial construction industry since 2005. We’ve worked on some really large projects, and in the past, building homes had always been a hobby business for us,” she adds. “We spent time doing our own projects along with builds for friends.”
Over time, the pair developed a passion for building custom homes and helping other families achieve their vision – and this year, Tom decided to leave the chaos of the corporate world, and he and Amanda made Planishek Properties their full-time gig!

“For our homes, we love creating features that would be enjoyed by our own family,” Amanda says. “Having a large dog, three kids and a live-in brother gives us lots of perspective. For us, a high level of activity is important, as we like the family to be off the video games and doing things together. The lake has been an extension of our ‘home,’ and we enjoy the countless activities and venues it offers. Most importantly, we love the relaxed nature and fun people we meet along the way.”
“In the ever-changing business and social climate, we are seeing that many of our clients’ daily routines occur in their home,” adds Tom. “It’s pretty common now for both husband and wife to work from home, and argue over who gets ‘the office’ and who works at the dining room table. Or, you may work out five days a week but not have time to drive to the gym. We’re also seeing a comeback in sculleries as many of our clients like to have their kitchens clean when entertaining – leaving prep-work done behind the scenes. Finally, we’re also seeing a lot more ‘generational homes’ that require dual master suites.”

From heavy timbers to custom ornamental metals, we can get it!”
