Savor Local: CC’s Café & Catering – Welcoming You Like Family!

A cozy place to gather for a mouthwatering breakfast or lunch, CC’s Café & Catering in Denver also offers a warm, family feel, courtesy of owners — and sisters — Crystal Chudoba and Angel Schoenhardt.

Join them for daily lunch specials, soups, salads, and a tasty variety of specialty sandwiches, and you’ll be so pleased, you’ll soon be calling to book their catering services for a special event.

After a difficult year of personal loss and career challenges, the timing was perfect for the sisters to explore a new adventure. “During Covid we lost our mother and our grandmother, 32 days apart,” says Crystal. “Angel lost her father-in-law in 2019, so it was a time of enormous change for our families.” The two opened CC’s Café & Catering in January of 2021, and have embraced combining their individual talents with a shared goal of spreading love and laughter!

A culinary arts teacher in both New York, and locally at Maiden High School, Crystal knew the food side of the business well, while Angel’s experience with managed care  gave them the organizational skills to guide a successful small business team.

Traditional breakfast and lunch hours are 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily, but the café has transitioned to their Fall hours of Monday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and  Sunday 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Starting your morning off with a few of their favorites is the perfect start to a crisp fall day!

Crystal shares their most beloved breakfast order is the CC’s Special, which includes two eggs, home fries, toast, and your choice of meat. Breakfast wraps are also very popular, along with newer breakfast items including omelets and build-your-own breakfast bowls.

You’ll also find some personal nods on the menu, and a strong helping of family ties.

“For lunch, the ‘Mimi’ is a definite favorite —  and named after our mother,” says Crystal. “That’s a slow-roasted, sliced beef sandwich on a kaiser roll topped with salt and caraway seeds, served with a side of Au jus and horseradish sauce. In Buffalo, where we’re from, there isn’t a restaurant that doesn’t have that on their menu — but it’s called a Beef on Weck in Buffalo!”

CC’s also serves a sandwich called the ‘Jear Bear’ which is a Philly steak or chicken sandwich with provolone cheese, served on a sub roll. This customer favorite was named after Crystal and Angel’s brother, who passed away a year ago.

“As you can see, when we decided on our menu, each family member got to choose an item to add, or added in their memory — and had it named after them,” Crystal says.

Staying true to the local landscape, CC’s only serves Black Powder Coffee out of Mooresville, NC, which means their coffee, iced coffee, lattes, and espresso are all delicious!

“When we opened, we were dedicated to also supporting other local small businesses. That was very important to us,” adds Crystal.

Although most of their catering business happens in the Denver area, they are happy to serve any area within an approximate 30-mile radius.

“There are great catering options and restaurants in the area, but I think our prices set us aside from anyone else,” says Crystal. “We try our best to offer affordable pricing for our community.”

She and Angel are both inspired by the warmth of the people around Denver and the Lake Norman area, and the overwhelming community support they have received since opening.

“We have the best customers and some loyal ‘regulars’ — and people have been welcoming and honest with their opinions. We know not everyone will like our food, but I think our menu offers a wide enough variety for all to enjoy. Even our gluten-free folks.”
