The Personal Touch of Dana’s Fine Jewelry

The gift of jewelry is incredibly personal, and for over 27 years, Dana’s Fine Jewelry, in historic downtown Newton, has been entrusted with marking the most cherished family occasions. For owner Dana Ramseur, jewelry has been a lifelong passion.

“I grew up watching my grandparents work at their store, Gregory Jewelers, and I knew this was what I wanted to do,” she explains.

Although her grandparents sold their store while Dana was in high school, her journey led her through business classes, a stint in Virginia selling wholesale to jewelry stores, and managing a jewelry company upon her return to Charlotte. The very building that once housed her grandparents’ store became available for sale. In 1996, a hopeful Dana took the leap to launch her own dream.

“I was 24 years old, and scared to death,” she recalls. “But I had to try — and I’m glad I did. We adore this community and relish the opportunity to meet new people!”

Over the years, these people, who started as clients and have now become friends, have forged close relationships with the Dana’s Fine Jewelry team. The team, which includes Dana’s mother, Kay Carter, along with Brenda Bogert, Trena Pender, Sherry Kinder, Kathy Bollinger, and Carole Isenhour, celebrates life’s milestones right alongside their clients.

“We specialize in selling heirlooms that can be passed down for generations,” Dana says. “I might have pierced a little girl’s ears, and then, 20 years later, sold her a diamond wedding ring.”

Their reputation is built on making clients feel at home, offering expert knowledge, integrity, fair pricing, and a globally sourced selection of jewelry styles, from classic to cutting edge. The team has a creative approach, and Dana especially enjoys turning a client’s sparkling “idea” into reality. In fact, Dana’s Fine Jewelry was recently recognized as one of the Top Ten Jewelry Stores in North Carolina by Best Things North Carolina (bestthingsnc.com).

Delivering exquisite diamonds is a significant part of their business and a joyful experience when they become part of someone’s new beginning.

“I always tell newly engaged couples that if they don’t purchase from me, they should definitely buy from an independently owned store. They will get a better price, better quality, and better service by shopping locally. Everyone has different tastes and budgets, but we pride ourselves on finding the perfect stone. I always say I would rather sell you a beautiful, smaller diamond that has fire and quality than one that does not. We know it’s not easy for the guys, but we’re here to listen!”

Dana’s is also renowned for custom engraving, including fingerprints and paw prints. They can even transform a voice recording, such as a child’s first cry or first words, into a QR code that can be engraved on jewelry or a picture frame.

Mark your calendar for November 14th to attend their VIP Ladies Night Fundraiser for the Corner Table, part of Dana’s commitment to giving back to the community. You can also shop with them during Newton’s Christmas Crawl on November 10th and 11th, Black Friday on November 24th, Small Business Saturday on November 25th, and Light up the Town on Friday, December 1st.

Client Testimonials:

“All I can say is wow! I proposed to my girlfriend this weekend, and she loves the ring. Dana’s made this huge milestone in our life so easy. My first visit took just over 12 minutes, and I was asked instantly what I had in mind and my price range. Not even a week later, they had a band, the diamond, and diamonds for the band, all within my price range. The overall meeting for that day took 15 minutes, and a week later, the ring was ready. I spent less than an hour there over three visits. Dana’s Fine Jewelry saves you unnecessary stress!” — Blake A.

“I was looking for an engagement ring but had no knowledge of styles or pricing. I was in a rush and needed to purchase within a few days, but that was no problem, as Trena and Dana jumped on board and had a selection to choose from within a day or two. Every question was answered — they are the nicest and most sincere business you’ll ever deal with!” — Jason S.
