A perfect and simple dessert for Valentine’s Day with fresh strawberries, strawberry jam and an easy glaze!
Servings: 6
Prep time: 5 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 package puff pastry sheets
- 6 T strawberry jam
- 8 ounces fresh strawberries, sliced or cut into a heart shape
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions:
- Thaw the puff pastry for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spread a sheet of parchment paper onto the baking sheet.
- Cut the puff pastry into six, four-inch rectangles using the folds as a guide. With a fork, poke the centers of the puff pastries.
- Place the puff pastries on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed up.
- Remove from the oven, take a fork and press down in the center of each pastry.
- Take about one tablespoon of jam and spread it over each puff pastry. Bake for an additional two minutes.
- Take the sliced strawberries and arrange them over the pastries – I like to cover the whole puff pastry!
- Make the glaze by mixing all three ingredients in a small bowl and drizzle over the puff pastries. You can always add less heavy cream, check the consistency and add more, if needed.
RECIPE TIPS:
- Use “no sugar added” jam to cut back on sugar or use ½ tablespoon of jam instead.
- Cut the strawberries into hearts by buying a mini cookie cutter or using a paring knife to shape yourself.
