View from the Lake

Katrina & Stan Teague, Charlotte Vintage Furniture

Discovering Lake Norman is your happy place isn’t a tough assignment – and many people find their niche in life right here! Katrina and Stan Teague found their niche as owners of Charlotte Vintage Furniture in Huntersville, where in March of 2022 they settled their business into the historic Julius Rosenwald/Booker T. Washington four-room schoolhouse, owned by the Burgess-Griffith family.

Katrina hails from Traverse City, MI, but landed in Cornelius with a job at IBM 30 years ago, and met Stan, who was then a state trooper in Mecklenburg County. Stan was born near Hickory, and his parents were always involved in the furniture industry in NC, so his newest passion seems a natural progression.

While they travel frequently finding treasures for their store, returning home is always a pleasure. “We love the mixture of the vibrancy of the city, and the tranquility of the lake and mountains,” says Katrina. They also carve out as much time as possible to spend with their three daughters – Sophie, Jessie, and Cassie – along with their four grandchildren.

Katrina and Stan’s most recent estate adventure landed them vintage couture from Italian, French, and Argentine designers, as well as hand-stitched ties from Hermes, Gucci, and Yves Saint Laurent. Lucky travelers and lucky clients back home!

Jenny Fulton, Westport Tennis and Swim Club

Mom to two sons, ages 11 and 14, and two pups – a four-year-old Bernedoodle named Franklin, and a one-year-old mini Bernedoodle named Reuben, Chicago native Jenny Fulton knows fitness, and keeping up with an active family. Jenny was a trainer at Midtown Athletic Club in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and worked closely with top tennis players as well.

“We moved here three years ago because it was time to get out of the cold and snow, and into the blue skies and green mountains!” Now, Jenny is currently training at Westport Tennis and Swim Club in Denver, and has fallen in love with North Carolina! She’s also happy to play an important role in people’s lives, teaching the life-changing benefits of strength, stability, and mobility.

“No matter what your preferred sport, you always need to work on musculoskeletal function,” she adds. “By doing this, you prevent injury and develop a stronger core. It’s important to learn what muscle groups come into play while performing your sport.”

Jenny became a certified Personal Trainer in 2015, and is currently studying for her NASM Corrective Exercise exam in June. She already has NASM certifications as a certified personal trainer, a certified weight loss specialist, an AFAA Group Exercise Instructor, Schwinn Indoor Cycle Instructor, and a Les Mills Certified Sprint Instructor. As for Lake Norman, Jenny has already figured out it’s everything you could imagine, in beauty and climate, and she can’t wait to do more boating this coming summer!
