One Mans Perspective: Sedona

Sedona, Arizona is a mystical town known for its breathtaking red rock formations and spiritual atmosphere. It attracts visitors from all over the world. Whether seeking outdoor adventure, artistic inspiration, or spiritual enlightenment, this captivating destination offers something for everyone. The town leaders aim to keep the area tranquil. The use of yellow is restricted in town. Yellow is an attention getter.

For us, four couples, it was an opportunity to spend ten days on vacation in a great place: thanks to a time share offer.

We started our vacation by going to a plateau where the Singua People known for their advanced agricultural practices, lived from 600 AD to 1400 AD.  It is interesting that the name Singua means without water. We can attest to that. The villages revealed that they had elaborate irrigation systems.

They also built what I call apartment buildings. If you go by Montezuma Castle National Monument you will see their cliff dwellings. They are very impressive. I’m unsure how they got in or out of each apartment.

We also took a helicopter ride which gave us another view of the mountains in the area. They are red to orange in color and many of them are flat on top. The red in color is rust.  They are iron oxide and mostly red sandstone. Many have been named, such as Chimney Rock, Ship Rock, Courthouse Butt and so on.

A friend of ours had moved from the coast to a Methodist Church in the Sedona area. We found the church.  It is in the mountains, and it is beautiful. A wooden frame building laid out to capture the magnificent view.

It was time to pay the piper, so to speak. We had agreed to listen to a presentation by the time share organization. This bothered me because I was not in the market for a time share, and they had very powerful salespeople; and Marianne struggles to say no. Hours later, and I do mean multiple hours, we were the proud owners of a time share. About this time, buyer’s remorse started to settle in me.  As I read the contract, I realized that I had 24 hours to cancel with no penalty. You guessed it. I was at their front door when they opened in the morning and everything worked out fine. I could now enjoy the rest of our trip.

Sedona may be the perfect place to go on vacation, with its magnificent views and tranquil location.
