“In Japanese, Kanpai means ‘cheers,’ so our owners chose the name for the simple fact we wanted to bring everyone together to celebrate and dine in the most pleasurable way possible,” shares General Manager Haley Denton. “Two of the four owners of Kanpai also own Sushi at the Lake Too in Mooresville and were interested in opening a high-end sushi and tapas restaurant in Denver – something new and refreshing that local residents would love!
This delightful laid-back gathering spot is a treasure of Asian cuisine, paired with an equally colorful bar menu. Mix in the fun of live music, karaoke or a DJ at least twice a week (typically Fridays and Saturdays), and you’ve found the perfect spot for lunch, dinner or nothing more than a relaxed evening sharing good times with your favorite people. “The restaurant is unique in so many ways,” adds Haley. “It has been designed with an overall aesthetic that feels like a breath of fresh air!”

Some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes include the Spicy Edamame, Tuna Tower, Kanpai Scallops, Cucumber Wraps, L.A. Galbi, Kanpai Roll, Carolina Roll and Tempura, along with Hibachi for dinner. Sake Bombs and Sapporo beer are always on the menu, along with daily drink specials – Martini Mondays, Tequila Tuesdays and Wine Wednesdays – and accompanying appetizer specials. The newest food special on Martini Mondays is “buy any menu item and get a second of equal or lesser value at 50% off” – the perfect way to start off a new week!
