A Passion for Beauty
Sarah Gerber has always had a passion for beauty, working in the wedding industry for about 10 years. “I started my business about 5 years ago, but it was initially a side job as I had a 9-5 job out of college. In October of 2019, with great support from my husband, Tyler Gerber, I was able to make this my full-time job! Now I have two teams of absolutely amazing makeup artists, who continue making our brides happy. We are all constantly learning and growing in the industry through continuing education classes and staying up on all the latest styles of hair and makeup. It’s an ever-changing industry and knowing the best products, as well as new looks and styles, are really important,” said Sarah.
A Look as Individual as You
The stylists at SMG Beauty Co. can give a bride any look she and her bridal party wants. “There’s a time and place for the most natural makeup all the way to the most bold and glam you can get. Hair and makeup trends are constantly changing, so it is fun that there are always new things to learn and try out with brides. We offer trial runs to make sure our brides have the look they want for their big day; this also helps us going into the big day because there is no question as to what the bride will look like. We encourage our brides to schedule the trial run on the same day as their bridal portrait; that’s a great way to see how everything works together and photographs. Right now, our favorite looks are very boho, featuring tousled hairstyles, with glowy, neutral makeup for brides. We take the stress of hair and makeup for the bride and bridal party away, by making ourselves available to travel to the wedding venue, providing a more relaxing experience. I frequently travel to Lake Norman and the Charlotte area for bridal parties,” Sarah commented.
Before you visit with the stylists at SMG Beauty Co., having a general idea of the look or style you want prior is always a good idea. “It’s okay if you don’t have an exact idea nailed down completely, we are more than happy to tweak whatever you like and get the look you want. For instance, if you have short brown hair and want an updo, look up online ‘updos for short brown hair’, or if you have green eyes and want a look that will accent them, search ‘makeup for green eyes’ so that the things you find are realistic to what is achievable,” stated Sarah.
SMG Beauty Co. also does hair and makeup for photo shoots, always focusing on making you look your best. “For photoshoots, we love anything out of the box, very editorial, colorful; things we have never tried are always a favorite, because it keeps our creative juices flowing!”, said Sarah.
