With the arrival of October comes that warm, wonderful “closer to Christmas” feeling — and Laura Seagle, owner of The Red Barn Marketplace in Denver, NC, couldn’t be happier!
“Christmas is our biggest time of the year! We close for a week, and then we transform the store into a winter wonderland,” Laura explains. “I want customers to come in and immediately feel like a child on Christmas morning, and I want our youngest customers to be in awe of the beautiful trees, lights, ornaments, and the smell of cider in the air. Just pure excitement!!”
Make sure your calendar is marked for Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., when 3,300-square-feet of Christmas magic will fill this popular, family-owned home décor and gifts store. This year, the shop will close Sunday, October 29, until Friday, November 3, to prepare for their launch of the holiday season!
“All our creative vendors will be there helping customers on Open House day — that’s 12 total vendors, who have been with me since day one,” adds Laura. “We’re fortunate that Chick-fil-a of Denver provides both breakfast and lunch for us that day (as they have for the past eight years) so we are free to guide customers in being totally consumed with Christmas spirit!”
Laura’s vision of the store has always been of her various vendors meshing together, with a continuity that makes the store flow easily. Her vendors constantly work together to make the space a happy place.
“This is the way life should be — leaning on each other, working together for good, and being good Christians to all people! Plus, we are huge on supporting local businesses in Denver. In my mind, I like to consider my store the place to come when you’re looking for the perfect gift (not just at Christmas!), but if I don’t have what you’re looking for, I’ll tell you where to get it!” she adds.
You’ll find the ambiance here all about kindness, and Laura is constantly shopping at other local stores, helping her customers by staying on top of what others carry, too.
“Not only do we, as small businesses, share on social media and by word of mouth about all the wonderful local stores, but they all do the same. We are family, and we all want to make Denver a destination spot.”

Since opening in 2015, Laura has always considered The Red Barn a place of therapy.
“It’s a spot for people to come and enjoy beautiful things, have a cup of coffee or a taste of one of our local products, and just feel loved,” says Laura. “Every person who enters our store is family, whether we met you yesterday or last Christmas.”
