Bennett Funeral Service; Recognizing the Compassion Behind the Scenes

Displayed on digital billboards in the heart of Times Square in New York City, a national campaign is bringing visibility to a profession that often works quietly behind the scenes.

Daniel McGee, Funeral Director, Preplanning Counselor, and Certified Celebrant with Bennett Funeral Service in Newton, NC, was recently featured in Times Square, as part of this important campaign to recognize the industry.

McGee appeared in “The First Call” campaign, a public recognition initiative by Chptr — a community storytelling company helping funeral homes extend remembrance into the spaces where communities gather. Through broadcast, social, and video experiences, Chptr helps families honor every life, while helping funeral homes connect more meaningfully with the people they serve. The campaign was created in partnership with the National Funeral Directors Association, Tribute Technology, and Homesteaders Life Company to honor funeral professionals across the country. The name The First Call reflects a reality many families know well. After the death of a loved one, funeral directors are often among the very first people families turn to for guidance, steadiness, and care.

“This was never about seeing my face in Times Square. It was about seeing an entire profession recognized for the way it shows up with strength, compassion, and steadiness when families need it most,” says Daniel.

Established in 2013 by Robbie and Rhonda Bennett, Bennett Funeral Service is family owned and operated, and serves Catawba County and the surrounding areas. Bennett Funeral Service proudly guides families with a commitment to compassionate, personalized care. Being included in the campaign was an opportunity to represent both the profession and the local families who place their trust in the company’s funeral services each day.

Owner Robbie Bennett added, “We are incredibly proud of Daniel and the dedication he brings to every family he serves. He is a tremendous asset to our business and a true reflection of the values we strive to uphold each day.”

The business has often been recognized for its compassionate approach and commitment to personalized care, offering both traditional funeral services and cremation options. Bennett Funeral Service has also been voted the best funeral home in the Catawba Valley for 11 consecutive years, reflecting its strong reputation within the community.  For more information, visit www.bennettfuneralservice.com or call 828-465-2111.
