Thoughtful 55+ Living at River Rock at Blume Road

Finding the right place to call home can look different in every stage of life. For many active adults, that means finding a lifestyle that feels comfortable, social, and easier to maintain without giving up independence or the feeling of home.

River Rock at Blume Road offers a unique approach to 55+ living, combining independence with a relaxed and social atmosphere as Mooresville’s first active-adult rental cottage community.

Located near shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, and Lake Norman, the community offers the convenience of being close to everything while still maintaining a peaceful, tucked-away atmosphere.

The brand-new 108-home community opened in September 2025 and features thoughtfully designed two- and three-bedroom luxury ranch-style homes created for comfort, accessibility, and simple living. The open-concept floor plans range from approximately 1,376 to 1,446 square feet, giving residents room to spread out while still enjoying the benefit of a lower-maintenance lifestyle.

With no neighbors above or below, the homes offer more privacy than traditional apartment living while still encouraging a sense of community. Attached garages, private back porches, and sidewalks throughout the neighborhood create a layout that feels spacious, functional, and welcoming.

Inside, residents will find quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, full-size washers and dryers, ceiling fans in every room, and durable flooring throughout with no carpet. Soft-close cabinets and drawers, along with raised toilets, were also included to make everyday living easier and more comfortable.

Beyond the homes themselves, many residents say the sense of connection is what stands out most about life at River Rock at Blume Road. Moving to a new place can feel intimidating, but the leasing team’s focus on creating a friendly environment helps residents feel reassured and at ease from the start.

The community’s Lifestyle Program offers daily opportunities for residents to connect through events and activities, including bingo, poker, craft-and-create classes, fitness programming, holiday and birthday gatherings, and weekly social events. Whether residents are looking to stay active, meet neighbors, or try something new, there is always something happening throughout the week.

The clubhouse serves as the center of many activities and includes a kitchen and gathering areas where residents can socialize and relax. The community also features a fitness center, saltwater pool, outdoor grilling spaces, a social terrace, walking trail, and an upcoming dog park for residents and their pets to enjoy.

Residents can also participate in weekly classes like chair yoga, gentle stretching, cardio dance, and line dancing, offering even more ways to stay active while connecting with neighbors who share similar interests.

For resident Tim Angell, who moved to River Rock at Blume Road in February 2026, one of the biggest differences has been the balance of privacy, space, and community.

“It feels more like living in a home than an apartment,” he shared. “There’s always something going on, but it still feels peaceful and easygoing. The activities and events make it easy to meet people, and the community really feels welcoming. The team here has also been great and very friendly, which made it feel comfortable right away.”

Finding the right fit isn’t just important for residents, it brings peace of mind to families as well. Nancy Rosato, whose husband’s parents, Bob and Margaret, relocated from Maryland to River Rock at Blume Road, says the community’s friendly atmosphere and opportunities for connection helped make the transition a positive one.

“River Rock has grown into such a warm and friendly environment,” she shared. “The walkability, resident events, and sense of community have made this next chapter feel very positive for Bob and Margaret.”

That sense of connection is something Community Manager Alexandra “Alex” Welch says makes River Rock at Blume Road special.

“Everyone here is looking for the same thing: connection, friendship, and community,” she shared. “It creates such a welcoming atmosphere, and it really feels like a family.”

For Welch, one of the most rewarding parts of her role is watching those relationships grow. From daily activities and community events to casual conversations between neighbors, she says River Rock at Blume Road is about more than just providing a place to live. It’s about creating a place where people genuinely feel at home.
