The Publisher’s Perspective

I doubt there is a person reading this that hasn’t been affected in some way by heart health. In fact, the father of a dear friend is in the hospital at this very moment due to a cardiac event. I’ll never forget when my dad had his heart attack and how scared we all were. Many of us watched in horror when Damar Hamlin, at the very young age of 24, collapsed during Monday Night Football, but we celebrate his recovery. Barely two weeks later, Lisa Marie Presley collapsed of cardiac arrest as well, but sadly, hers was fatal. Let’s all educate ourselves and others year-round about heart health and not just in February.

Coming up, we look forward to featuring a summer camp guide in March, April and May. If you want to keep the kids in your life engaged, interested and having fun during those dog days of summer, you’re likely to find your answer in one of the many amazing camp opportunities in our community.

Is your house battened down for its long winter’s nap? We have our ‘home’ issue coming in April, featuring stories, ideas and beautiful pictures to wake up your enthusiasm for decorating and landscaping. We’ll feature the best local spots to help make your home, YOUR home.

A big shout out to my hubby (aka Teej, TJ, Tim) the love of my life, and best friend for always believing in me and supporting me while I do what I love! I couldn’t do this without him!

Hello! My name is Keela Johnson and I’m the founder of Forsyth Magazines, a family of three publications based in Forsyth County that started in 2005. After living in Clemmons for 30 years, I “retired” to Lake Norman and found a vibrant, active community of friendly people, as well as new hobbies like paddle boarding and gardening. However, with publishing in my blood, my heart and mind recognized a wonderful opportunity to further engage with this dynamic community and the members of my Lake Norman “neighborhood.” So… I am thrilled to announce that our team is launching a fourth publication: LKN Magazine!

An opportunity to promote local! When my husband and I made the move to Lake Norman, I passed the torch for the Forsyth County-based magazines into the very capable hands of my daughter Brooke. I’ve been considering the right time to launch a Lake Norman-based magazine, and I firmly believe that time is now! With 19 years of publishing experience, our team has helped hundreds of businesses share their stories and connect with our 70,000 readers. We believe in the power of community and building a platform for local businesses to grow in an organic and powerful way. We’re so excited to bring this same concept to the Lake Norman market.
