The Publisher’s Perspective

Is anyone looking forward to March 20th?! Yes, the first day of spring! I couldn’t be more excited… I have missed my paddle board rides more than ever this winter. I have things to do, people to see… and so many places to go!

First adventure for me will be to paddle over to one of our new advertiser’s amazing restaurant, The Landing. It’s probably a 1.5-hour paddle, but oh, the fun along the way! If you haven’t been there since the remodel, you are missing out! See story on page 34 – you are in for a treat! Our family has so many memories from time there with our kids, family and friends. The kids were toddlers when they were introduced to the arcade at The Landing… they would have happily eaten there every single day. Now that they are grown, it’ still a favorite spot, and the first place they go to take their friends to eat. We are so happy to welcome The Landing to our family of advertisers!

This month’s cover story is on Modern Fabric and Charlotte Vintage, and I can’t wait for you to read more about both of these dynamic, successful companies that are also eco-friendly. They trusted our business model and vision very early on and are another example of clients turned friends. Check out their story on page 9.

Hello! My name is Keela Johnson and I’m the founder of Forsyth Magazines, a family of three publications based in Forsyth County that started in 2005. After living in Clemmons for 30 years, I “retired” to Lake Norman and found a vibrant, active community of friendly people, as well as new hobbies like paddle boarding and gardening. I’ve been considering the right time to launch a Lake Norman-based magazine, and I firmly believe that time is now! With 19 years of publishing experience, our team has helped hundreds of businesses share their stories and connect with our 70,000 readers. We believe in the power of community and building a platform for local businesses to grow in an organic and powerful way. We’re so excited to bring this same concept to the Lake Norman market.
